Excel is an extremely powerful program with many applications that even veteran users may not be aware of. Excel can automate financial and statistical tasks, saving you time. I offer a variety of Excel training courses including a free introductory class that demonstrates the power of Excel. Classes are held at your office and are geared to your needs. All classes, (except “Amazing Excel”) are hands-on and limited to three or fewer participants to assure quality.

If you have never used Excel or even if you are a long-time user you might be surprised at Excel’s many talents. In this free demonstration class, you will see many ways Excel might make your life easier and more productive. Unlike my other classes, this lecture and demonstration is not hands-on and there is no limit on the number of participants.
Excel Basic
In this class, you will be introduced to Excel and discover how it will help manage your financial data. As with most of my classes, Excel Basic offers a mix of lecture and actual practice. Class time: approximately 3 hours. You will learn how to:
Understand the Excel layout - workbooks, worksheets, cells
Navigate quickly and with ease
Do basic formatting
Understand formulas – the real power behind Excel
Speed up your work with copy, paste and autofill
Print your results the way you want to see them
Apply what you have learned – design and update a budget
Create an Excel worksheet to fit your needs
Formulas and Functions
In this class you will learn more about Excel’s powerful ability to manipulate numbers. As with most of my classes, it will offer a mix of lecture and actual practice. Time will be set aside to create formulas that work for your situation. Class time: approximately 2 hours. You will learn how to:
Use Excel’s basic formulas
Save time by copying formulas
Use “relative copy” and “absolute copy” appropriately
Create formulas that reference other worksheets and workbooks
Use Excel’s most popular functions:
Sum, average, count
If/then
Lookup Tables
Calculate loan payment amounts
Enter today’s date and time
Round a number to a specified number of places
Count cells that meet a certain criteria
Enter a goal and have Excel find the best solution
Analyze data and retain several different scenarios

Charts and Graphs
In this class you will learn how to make your data more reader-friendly through the use of Excel’s charting feature. As with most of my classes it will offer a mix of lecture and actual practice. Time will be set aside to use your data to create exciting-looking charts. Class time approximately: 2 hours. You will learn how to:
Create a chart with a single keystroke
Examine the variety of charts Excel has to offer
Determine which chart is best for your data
Make your chart easy to understand with pictures, colors, scaling, etc.
Insert your chart into a presentation, letter or other document
Apply what you have learned to your own needs
Lists and Database
In this class, you will learn how to use one of Excel’s most powerful and underutilized tools - its ability to analyze all sorts of data. As with most of my classes, it will offer a mix of lecture and actual practice. Time will be set aside to analyze data pertinent to your job. Class time approximately: 2 hours. You will learn how to:
Define an Excel “list”
Sort, find, filter data from a list of thousands of cells
Sub-total, total, count and otherwise summarize the data
Use pivot tables to analyze mountains of information any way you want
Chart your analysis
Import data to and export data from other applications and the Internet
Apply what you have learned to your own needs
Formatting, Drawing and Graphics
In this class, you will learn about Excel’s many features that allow you to display and print your data in a manner that is attractive and easy for readers to understand. As with most of my classes, it will offer a mix of lecture and actual practice. Time will be set aside to design and format a worksheet pertinent to your job. Class time: approximately 2 hours. You will learn how to:
Employ Excel’s library of fonts and formats
Use special formatting
Create formatting that is conditional on the result
Use Excel’s styles, and design, develop and save your own style
Add clip art or favorite pictures
Make grid lines disappear or change color
Zoom in or out
Use drawing tools to add boxes, ellipses, arrows etc to your worksheet
Use built-in drawings such as organizational and flow charts
Make your graphics colorful and interactive by adding macros
Apply what you have learned to your own needs
Tricks, Shortcuts and Tips
In this class you will discover little things can make life easier and ways to speed up your everyday tasks. As with most of my classes, it will offer a mix of lecture and actual practice. Time will be set aside to make Excel work faster for you. Class time: approximately 2 hours. You will learn how to:
Use 20 keyboard shortcuts
Create custom toolbars for fast access to your frequently used tasks
Use autofill to enter a series of numbers, words dates, etc
How to write macros and make Excel do your work for you
